At the age of 4, I have been introduced to fishing by my father. My first rod was a parabolic bamboo one (two-piece). I used to catch my own bate ranging from white snails to rock bugs. At the age of 6 I got an upgrade to a 3 piece bamboo rod. My family used to camp in Marsascala for a whole month in afield behind Grabiel in marsascla. My first decent fish were 3x300gram mullets that I caught with this bamboo rod.

At the age of 8 I started to join my father on our boat. I spent more than 10 years helping my father 2-3 times a week in the evenings with the boat. At the age of 20 I met an old friend at university. He told me that he had joined a fishing club composed of a group of friends namely Steve Johnston, Michael Delia, and another couple of hobbyists.

I went to a couple of matches as visitor and after joining this old friend (Ramon Vella), I got more interested to Sport fishing.

My first competition expirience was in July 1997. We were fishing in Sliema under the Fortina Hotel. I managed to catch 250 grams of fish. i managed to break one of my two rods and it was a total disaster. Anyway I started fishing nearly every day and managed to improove by time.
